Rosamond K. Studio

Mollie Flack, Fine Artist

2008 Paint Alaska

Rosamond K Studio was in part born out of a dream to make artist workshops available in Alaska. Alaska is one of the most inspirational places on earth for any artist. My husband and I spent 25 years living in the wilderness at the edge of the Wrangell St.-Elias Mountains; our love for the beauty, history, and even the uncompromising harshness of this land runs deep. My mother, Mary Rosamond (an art teacher), came to Alaska for the summer of 1983; she came to love Alaska as I do, and while she was here she introduced me to painting! In October of 2000, we left Alaska for 6 years to be near ailing family; during those “outside” years I attended more than 2500 hours of artist workshops across the country. I was like a sponge, soaking up knowledge, technique and how successful workshops are conducted. Now that we have moved back to Alaska, we want to provide the opportunity for you to experience the pristine beauty of the Last Frontier while sitting under the tutelage of excellent, internationally known teachers. We anticipate an atmosphere of serenity, inspiration, and excellence in art. Come join us for an awe-inspiring Alaskan art adventure which you will never forget.

Accomodations

We will be holding the workshops at the beautiful Mountain Springs B&B, home of Ed and Glynn Strabel. This log style home on 20 acres overlooks a panoramic view of the Matanuska Valley and Chugach Mountain Range, and is located just 3 miles from the entrance to Hatchers’ Pass and the historic Independence Gold Mine.

We purposely scheduled these classes to be at the height of the Alaskan wildflower season, and hopefully the best weather. We may be doing some photography and/or plein air painting.
